Comments:

Got married right straight out of high school in 1961. Stayed married 20 years. During that time I attended college, taught piano lessons and raised three wonderful kids. Was part of the first graduating class through USU Uintqh Basin Extension in 1980. Divorced in 1981 and moved to Logan, Utah to work in the USU Youth Conservatory, a preparatory piano program of Utah State University. Taught there for ten years. Kids were all on their own now so I decided to go get my graduate degrees. Graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Master's of Music degree in performance in 1992 and from University of Oklahoma with a PhD in Music Education in 1995. Taught a one year sabbatical in Bemidji, MN at Bemidji State University, six years at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND. Decided to come home to Utah where my three children and seven grandchildren were. Taught adjunct at USU for five years and then retired. I love retirement. I took up writing as a hobby and wrote my childhood memoirs. It is called, "For Cryin' Out Loud!" and is available on Amazon.com. I play the piano for my and the local's enjoyment, work out at a fitness center, grow flowers in the summertime, spend time with family, which now includes two great-grand babies. Life is good; Wasatch Academy was good, and this site is wonderful. Thank you Mary Ann.

School Story:

Exercising my rebellion by sluffing church one Sunday morning. I spent the whole time in my closet, only to find out later that I missed Robet Mester cutting his wrist during the service to win back Jackie Kempf, who had just dropped him. Robert was ushered out crying. "Dammit," I thought, "Just my luck to miss the only day when something interesting happens."

Hi Dianne, I just wanted to thank you for your courage to write and publish your story. I just finished reading it . And thank you for bringing it to one of our reunions. I was fascinated and troubled by all that you went through. None of us really knew what family or lack thereof we had come from when we came to Wasatch, but we were siblings there together. Heck, we raised each other through our teen years--imagine! I told my sister Marsha (three years younger than me) that you didn't return to Wasatch for your senior year because you hoped to strengthen your family and help that be a healthier situation. Marsha said that I apparently came home from Wasatch with that goal every year--and my family situation was tame compared to yours. Anyway, I rejoice to think of you going on to raise three healthy and successful children and getting your doctorate so you could do university level teaching in music. Way to go! I'm thinking we were both in band my sophomore and your junior year, as I was switching from string bass to tuba, and you were playing bell lyre, yes? And I see that your first name was always misspelled in the yearbook, right? Anyway, I hope to see you at another reunion again. Thank you for your introspective and articulate writing.

Hi Diane, can you enter the discussion about a mini reunion? Carl Atkinson is inspirational about getting us all together, but he needs more help! What about your ideas?

Hi my WA friend all those years ago and my Facebook friend now. Have a great birthday today and stay positive. We are all getting older but we are getting wiser and that is downright wonderful!!

Karol had more determination than anyone I've ever met.  Early into our junior year her father was on the brink of losing their ranch (around Vernal)  the one Howard Hall mentioned.  That ranch was Karol's life, much more than WA was.  School started the end of August or around the first of September  and by November Karol was back home, running the ranch and keeping up on her studies by correspondence.  And she did it--she did it all.  She was the best cowgirl ever and I miss her even all these years later.  Dianne (Blaino) Hardy.
